How can surface loading conditions be applied to a wall?
Answer: Area loading conditions may be applied using one of the following methods:
- Mesh Wall at locations where you expect loading to vary via Edit > Edit Shells > Divide Shells.
- Concentrated loads – Apply concentrated moments and point loads to any node location by selecting Assign > Point Loadmoments and/or joint loads by selecting the joint and going to Assign > Joint Loads > Force.
- Line loads – For linear distributed loading, define a frame object with negligible structural properties, then draw these frames where line loads are to be applied. Draw line loads on Select the frame objects by selecting and go to Assign > Frame loads > Distributed, then scale their magnitude according to tributary allocation.
- Area loads – Similarly, apply area shell loads by selecting the wall and going to Assign > Area Shell loads > Uniform or Non-Uniform loads
