Correspondence

Is it possible to obtain corresponding forces for different members?

Extended Question: During bridge analysis, is it possible to find the maximum and minimum response in one member, then use that same loading condition to find the corresponding response in other members? In other words, is it possible to compute the live load case which maximizes response in one member, then use the same loading to compute forces in other members?

Answer: During influence-based moving-load analysis, correspondence between response parameters may be reported for a given location within the structure in CSiBridge via "Analysis Tab > Bridge > Bridge Response > Moving Load Case Results Saved > Correspondence". For example, when the maximum moment is resolved at an element midspan, the corresponding shear force at the same location, under the same loading condition, may be obtained through this process.

Step-by-step moving-load analysis should be run to obtain concurrent forces for different members. Once run, the step in which minimum and maximum forces are induced in a structural member should be found, then the forces in other members may be reviewed for that load step.
