Haunch

Depending on the whether the bridge object is updated as spine or area model, the haunches are modeled in the bridge object as follows:

• For bridge object updated as spine model, the haunch (including its weight) is considered in the bridge deck section properties when the program determines the section properties for the frame elements representing the superstructure in the spine model.
• For bridge object updated as area model, the haunch is not explicitly modeled and therefore its weight is not considered. If needed, the haunch weight would need to be applied a load. Please note that the deck is still correctly offset from the girder in the vertical direction to account for the space created by the haunch, but the haunch itself is not being modeled in the area model.
